The legendary rock band Van Halen is on the road with their original singer, David Lee Roth. Special guest opening up on this tour is Louisiana-based blues-guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd was nasty! Great guitar player with a great band. In addition to his biggest hit, “Blue on Black,” he played a great cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).” If you stayed in the parking lot for a few more beers while Kenny and his band were playing, you made a big mistake!!

Van Halen

Van Halen recently released their very first live album with David Lee Roth on vocals, Tokyo Dome Live in Concert. They had a really great energy to them tonight. Musically, they sounded incredible, Eddie was on fire! Unfortunately, the vocals left a bit to be desired. David Lee Roth is in fantastic shape, and is full of energy, he just doesn’t hit all the right notes when he sings. While there are plenty of fans disappointed to not see original bass player Michael Anthony on stage with them, Eddie’s son Wolfgang does a great job both with laying down the low end, as well as providing backup vocals.

Their set was full of all the DLR-era hits you could hope to hear!
