A cold November evening found Theory of a Deadman at the Worcester Palladium. The night was kicked off by great sets from Eva Under Fire and 10 Years. The crew made speedy changeovers between bands, and before you know it, Theory was hitting the stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They kicked off with one of their big hits, “Lowlife.” The energy they opened up with got the crowd rocking, and it only kept going with “Bitch Came Back.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Theory of a Deadman has been following an interesting course the last few days. In many places, such as festivals, they are referring to themselves simply as Theory. Some of their newer material is much more poppy than their older stuff. Clearly they’re trying to reach a more mainstream audience that may have been scared off by “Deadman.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the middle of the set, a piano was wheeled out on stage. Frontman Tyler Connolly sat down behind it, and played a great cover of Chris Isaac’s “Wicked Game.” After that, he played a couple of little things to get the crowd laughing, like the themes from Halloween<\/em> and The Exorcist<\/em>, before playing their song “Straight Jacket.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All that said, I think the band realize what most of their fans are there for, and only a few songs were played off their last couple of albums. Songs like “Hate My Life” and “Bad Girlfriend” were definite highlights for the crowd, bringing the crowd roaring at the end of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
