Progressive metal band Coheed and Cambria<\/strong> took over the Agganis Arena on their Boston stop of the A Window Of The Waking Mind Tour, joined by Alkaline Trio<\/strong> and Mothica<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mothica<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fans slowly made their way into the college arena, and those arriving early would be able to catch Mothica\u2019s opening set. The young pop singer focused on her latest album, Nocturnal, <\/em>also sharing the personal experiences that inspired songs like \u201cVICES\u201d and \u201cupside\u201d. She also took the opportunity to bring her partner on stage to celebrate his birthday with the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alkaline Trio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After a short break, it was time for the punk rock band Alkaline Trio, a detour from Mothica\u2019s pop sounds. The band\u2019s set was full of chaotic energy, with tracks like the opening \u201cWarbrain\u201d, \u201cCalling All Skeletons\u201d and fan favorite \u201cRadio\u201d. Lead by vocalist Matt Skiba, the band often addressed the crowd directly, and even acknowledged a few hiccups during the intros of a few songs. More than a few hardcore fans could be seen in the crowd, feeding off the band\u2019s raw energy, even though the punk element felt like a mismatch at times.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coheed and Cambria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a giant creature slowly appeared on stage, the excitement was growing amongst fans, with Iron Maiden\u2019s \u201cAces High\u201d blasting in the background to announce the band\u2019s arrival. The show would kick off with the opening tracks of their 2018 album The Unheavenly Creatures, <\/em>as images of the story of Vaxis were shown on the screens. The set focused heavily on the story and its follow up, 2022\u2019s A Window Of The Waking Mind, <\/em>bringing the two concept albums to life through lighting and visuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coheed and Cambria\u2019s stunning stage setup blew fans away, and many described it as their most impressive show yet. The crowd was also treated to classics like \u201cA Favor House Atlantic\u201d and the closing \u201cWelcome Home\u201d, to wrap up an evening of diverse styles connected through stories about different sides of the human experience.
