Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers just released a new album,\u00a0Hypnotic Eye,<\/em> which became their first ever Number 1 album. They are on an extensive summer and fall tour to promote this album, with Steve Winwood joining them as support act.<\/p>\n

I’ll admit to not being super familiar with Steve Winwood. When I was younger, my mother had the Back in the High Life<\/i> album! but that’s the extent of my knowledge. About half of his set was material from his former band Traffic. The only song in the set that I knew was “Higher Love,” and I was surprised not to hear the title track off of Back in the High Life.<\/i><\/p>\n

That said with my limited knowledge of his material, I was impressed with their sound. At 66 years old, Winwood still sounds amazing. Even not being familiar with the material, had I been blindfolded, I would have been able to identify it as him.<\/p>\n
