On an extremely rainy night in Hartford, Connecticut, Saint Asonia came to town for a show at The Webster Theater. The band is currently out on a co-headlining run with Black Stone Cherry, giving audiences a chance to hear Saint Asonia play a longer set than we have on recent tours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening up with “Above it All,” Adam Gontier and the rest of Saint Asonia don\u2019t hold back any punches. Over the last decade, the band has put out four albums, and by playing a longer set tonight, they had a chance to showcase material off of each of those albums. We got songs like “The Hunted,” off of 2020’s Flawed Design<\/em>, and my personal favorite of the night, “Chew Me Up,” off of 2022’s Introvert<\/em> EP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few songs into the set, Adam explained – for anybody who is unfamiliar with the band – how he was previously the singer of Three Days Grace. He then brought the audience back to that era, with a performance of “Never Too Late,” and “I Hate Everything About You.” They then reached out to another corner of Adam\u2018s career, playing “I Don\u2019t Care,” the song Adam originally sang with the heavy metal cello quartet, Apocalyptica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audience really responded to their recent single, “Wolf,” as well as their unique cover of “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. As we neared the end of the set, they gave us one more Three Days Grace song, setting the audience on fire with “Riot.” The band finished strong with the one-two combo of “Devastate,” and “Let me Live my Life.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of us found Saint Asonia because we knew Adam through Three Days Grace, and while it is great to hear him sing the songs the way they are meant to be, I really loved having a chance to hear more Saint Asonia songs tonight. The band spent 2023 opening up for Skillet and Theory of a Deadman, and by the time the 3DG songs were played, we’d only get to hear a couple of Saint Asonia songs. Co-headlining was a step in the right direction, but I would certainly love to see Saint Asonia come around on a full headlining tour, with a real girthy set full of their material!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
