Last summer, I was lucky enough to see ‘The Boyz of Summer Tour’ featuring Hoodie Allen, Wiz Khalifa and Fall Out Boy. All of the groups were great, but I left saying, I need to see Fall Out Boy again. Fortunately, they didn’t wait too long to come back around with the Wintour is Coming tour, featuring support from PVRIS and AWOLNATION.<\/p>\n

PVRIS<\/h3>\n

Sold out show at Madison Square Garden<\/p><\/div>\n

The walk from my hotel to the arena was longer than I thought, and I made it just in time to catch PVRIS (pronounced Paris). This female fronted rock band from Lowell, MA was not what I expected. I had pulled up one song before the show, and lost interest after about 30 seconds. I hoped that I would like them more in a live setting.<\/p>\n

They blew me away.<\/p>\n

I sat down to see the lead singer, Lyndsey Gunnulfsen standing center stage, wearing all black, hair all a mess, with a guitar in her hand. Her voice was so powerful, I couldn\u2019t believe it was the same girl I had just seen online. Brad Griffin and Kyle Anthony backed her up with their own talents, and they also had a pretty amazing light show. They seemed more like a post hardcore band, rather than a rock band to me. The songs were heavy, but at the same time, there was a electronic beat that made you want to jump and move. They played six songs, and I enjoyed every one of them. I highly recommend checking out \u201cYou and I;\u201d it was the song I couldn\u2019t listen to online, but I couldn\u2019t stop singing after.<\/p>\n

AWOLNATION<\/p><\/div>\n

If you like electronic rock, Sons of Anarchy<\/i> and songs that have been certificate 6x platinum, AWOLNATION will not disappoint. The band is from Southern California, and was formed in 2010. The singer, Aaron Bruno, got on stage and the crowd went crazy. He jumped, danced and engaged his audience. The rest of the band, Kenny Carkeet, Isaac Carpenter, Marc Walloch and Zach Irons, backed him up with the same energy. The set started the set with \u2018Run\u2019, which has a absolutely incredible beat. During \u2018I am\u2019 they asked everyone to put their cell phone lights up, which is quite a thing to see 20,000 people do. They also played \u2018Burn it down\u2019, which was used in an episode of Sons of Anarchy, before ending the set with the hit \u2018Sail,\u2019. When the first note of “Sail” started, the crowd instantly cheered, knowing what it was. The girls seated behind me screamed louder than the music itself. Aaron matched their intensity and performed it perfectly. It was a captivating performance from start to finish.<\/p>\n

Fall Out Boy<\/h3>\n

Fall Out Boy – The Wintour is Here<\/p><\/div>\n

A curtain dropped over the stage while we waited for Fall Out Boy to come out. All of a sudden, the curtain dropped, the crowd cried out, rose to their feet, and it began to snow. Wintour was coming after all. I\u2019m not a Game of Thrones fan, but I still thought it was \u2018punny\u2019. They showed a video while it snowed, and I could see the guys waiting behind the screen. Excitement was in the air.<\/p>\n

When the video stopped, the screens parted ways, they ran out on stage, and jumped right into their recent hit \u2018Irresistible\u2019. From then on, the show was non-stop hits, stopping only for brief moments of thank you\u2019s from lead singer Patrick Stump, and moments that I wish were more brief from Pete Wentz. He\u2019s a great bass player, but I have no idea what he was talking about.<\/p>\n

The night rolled on with hits like \u2018The Phoenix\u2019 and \u2018Dance,Dance\u2019. When they wanted to slow it down a bit a piano was brought out for \u2018Disloyal Order of the Water Buffaloes\u2019 and \u2018Save Rock and Roll\u2019. I am sad to report that there was no surprise guest of Sir Elton John that night. I stared at the stage; silently praying to see him waltz out. They played one of my favorite songs, \u2018Jet Pack Blues\u2019, and a few tears rolled down my face. They brought me right back up they played \u2018Thanks for the Memories\u2019, and \u2018Centuries\u2019.<\/p>\n

When Fall Out Boy returned to the stage for their encore,\u00a0\u2018My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark\u2019 brought some fun pyrotechnics to the stage. When they sang \u201cLight em\u2019 up up up, I\u2019m on fire!”, fire shot up along the back of the stage, all around the drummer.<\/p>\n
