\"\"<\/a>In This Moment has long been one of our favorite bands to see live. Beyond just having a great catalog of music, they put on a show like no other.<\/p>\n

In This Moment is touring in support of their sixth album, Ritual<\/i>, released last summer. On this “Witching Hour” tour, they’re co-headlining with Halestorm, while New Years Day is opening the show, providing a trio of powerful female-fronted rock bands.<\/p>\n

In This Moment vocalist Maria Brink<\/p><\/div>\n

From beginning to end, In This Moment’s show is a theatrical one. Starting with a dark stage full of fog, vocalist Maria Brink enters center-stage, backlit, with flowing robes and hair blowing in the wind. Opening with the title track of 2012’s Blood<\/i>, this band is not pulling any punches tonight.<\/p>\n

Between just about every song, Maria has a costume change of some sort. The band is more than just great theatrics, though. Their music can be so heavy and powerful, and it’s all played phenomenally tonight. At one point, Maria introduces the band, and they play a jam of Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “Creeping Death.” These guys rock, hard.<\/p>\n

On Ritual<\/i>, you’ll find Maria sings a duet with Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford, on the track “Black Wedding.” While Halford was not in the building tonight, New Years Day vocalist Ashley Costello joined them for it. The pair sings to each other, while performing well-choreographed moves across the stage.<\/p>\n

Before we know it, we’re at the end of the show. Maria’s two on-stage co-performers come out with bandages over their eyes, carrying big signs with “SHAME” painted on them. As Maria appears behind a podium with “SIN” painted on it, she’s wearing a dunce hat that says “WHORE” on it. Any In This Moment fan knows what’s coming next. Maria always introduces the song “Whore” with a speech about taking back control, and the power that people hold over women with the word, and turning it back on their accuser. It’s a great song with a great message.<\/p>\n
