The Bay Strikes Back Tour in Boston, MA – May 2, 2022

Thrash metal icons Testament took the House of Blues by storm on the Boston stop of the The Bay Strikes Back Tour. With the help of titans Exodus and Death Angel, Monday night would be anything but quiet.

Death Angel

The evening would start early with Death Angel, featuring a set of high speed, face melting tracks. The energy was powerful and defiant, with tracks like “Voracious Souls” and “Claws In So Deep”. Lead singer Mark Osegueda hyped up the crowd the entire time, but also took some time to thank the fans for their patience and strength through the difficult times, right before “The Dream Calls For Blood”.

Exodus

With the room almost at its fullest, the stage was set for Exodus. Like a punch in the gut, the band burst on stage at full speed with “The Beatings Will Continue (Until Morale Improves)”, of their latest album Persona Non Grata. Lead by singer Steve “Zetro” Souza and longest running member, legendary guitarist Gary Holt, the band ignited the crowd almost immediately. From classics like “ A Lesson In Violence”, to new tracks like “Prescribing Horror”, Exodus brought the intensity of thrash to the highest levels. The band even gave a nod to Pantera’s “Walk”, right before kicking into “The Toxic Waltz”.

Testament

It was now time for Testament to close the evening. The anticipation was building up in between sets, although there was a bit of a comic relief with Jim Croce’s “ Bad Bad Leroy Brown” playing in the background. The band would take the stage shortly after with “Children Of The Next Level”, off of their 2020 release Titans of Creation. Lead by vocalist Chuck Billy, Testament would pick up right where Exodus left off. The show was a solid mix of newer releases and classics like “Disciples of the Watch”. Fans also got to see former slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, who recently joined the band. Exodus’ Zetro Souza would join the band on stage for a wild performance of “Over the Wall”.

The Bay Strikes Back Tour is proof that thrash metal is not only legendary, but very much still present. Fans from all walks of life gathered for an evening of pure insanity, make sure to experience it as they make their way across the US.
