The Regrettes in Boston – May 6, 2022

For a long time, concerts have been a special place for lovers of music, musicians, crew members, as well as fans for a very long time. It’s special because it’s an event that brings a large group of people of different races, sexual orientations, and genders, putting them together into a space where none of that matters. Everyone is there for the same reason, which is to rock out with their favorite band, The Regrettes. That’s what makes this band special – no matter how big they get, the fans will always be the most important part of their shows.

The Regrettes have been touring since the start of this year, starting their “ Get the f*ck out of LA” tour mid February, leading right into their tour promoting their junior album, Further Joy. I saw the band in Vermont back in march, and just once was not enough. I bought tickets to their show in Boston almost immediately after I walked out of the venue. I’ve been to several concerts, and I honestly have never seen a band perform like this one.

Lydia Night, the front-woman of the band, is the definition of insanely talented. Only 21 years old, she created The Regrettes at age 15, and has been touring since then. Let’s not even start on how impressive her breath control is, with how much she’s jumping all over the stage, all while belting the lyrics. The entire band makes it feel like everyone in the crowd is a part of the family. Brooke Dickson and Riley Donahue, the multi-instrumentalists of the group, changed spots a few times throughout the show, which to me just shows the talent. Just by looking at the group you can tell how much they care for each other. They really are a huge family, and I’m glad to be a part of the fan base, as well as The Regrettes family.

I wish I could tell you all to catch The Regrettes on the rest of their tour, but sadly, a few days after the show, while performing in Toronto, Canada, Lydia had to be rushed to the hospital to have her appendix removed. Thankfully the surgery went well, and Lydia is safe and healing, but they have to reschedule the rest of the tour for obvious reasons. Please go stream Further Joy!
