blink-182 at Fenway Park – July 23, 2024

The One More Time tour featuring blink-182 with support from Pierce the Veil and Ekkstacy stopped by Fenway Park on July 23rd, 2024. The massive stage was set up in center field to the right of the Green Monster, complete with a GA pit in front of the stage and folding chairs placed in sections on a temporary plastic floor to protect the grass field. This show was part of the Fenway Concert Series where fans were reminded that “work sucks, I know”.

EKKSTACY

Ekkstacy, traveling all the way from Vancouver, BC, opened the cloudy night at world famous Fenway with their whole set pushed all the way to the rear of the stage. Ekkstacy was on the second stop of the three scheduled shows opening for blink-182. Their performance included the songs, “It only gets worse, I promise”, “I walk this earth all by myself”, “I Just Want to Hide My Face” and “I’m so happy.” Ekkstacy has produced three records to date and with over 110k Instagram followers, this is a band continuing to gain traction.

PIERCE THE VEIL

Pierce the Veil hails from San Diego, California, and was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes. After Mike left the band in 2017, Pierce the Veil currently consists of Vic Fuentes (vocals, rhythm guitar) Tony Perry (lead guitar) Jaime Preciado (bass) and Loniel Robinson (drums).

Pierce the Veil started their set to the rear of the stage, but after a few songs the band moved to the front after they were given the go ahead with no rain in sight. They started to show off their impressive jump splits which really got the crowd going. As the energy continued to grow, a mosh pit opened up directly in front of the stage. Pierce the Veil played newer songs including “Pass The Nirvana” and “Emergency Contact” from their fifth and most recent album, “The Jaws of Life.” Pierce the Veil also played several fan favorites from their third album, “Collide with the Sky” including “Bulls in the Bronx” and closed out the show with “King for a Day.” After the set ended, both Vic and Tony launched their guitars through the air to crew members who made some incredible catches!

blink-182

The stage was dark when the two large video boards turned on showing Tom, Mark and Travis walking up the ramp from backstage to a roaring crowd at Fenway. blink-182 opened their set with “Feeling This”, the first song on their 2003 untitled album. From the GA Pit in front of the stage to the seats behind home plate and everywhere in-between, everyone in the crowd were on their feet overflowing with excitement. The night was a celebration played through blink-182’s many hit songs, turning Fenway Park into a magical concert venue. There was pyro on stage, fireworks above the stage and even sperm confetti shot out in front of the stage (yes, you read that right). During their set, Travis had an identical drum set hoisted from the stage into the air so everyone in the crowd had a better view of just how immensely talented he is. Tom was playful with the audience throughout the show first saying, “When we first started out as a country, this [Boston] is where all the sex addicts lived.” Tom added, “This is where they started Starbucks, right?” knowing full well this is Dunkin’ territory. Each of his comments produced an uproar of laughter. blink-182 ended up playing six songs off their “One More Time” album closing out the night strong with the highly emotionally packed single “One More Time.”
