Ne-Yo and Akon in Mansfield, MA – July 23, 2026

On Thursday night, after a two day rain-delay, Massachusetts transformed into the ultimate club experience. It was packed with world class dancing, music, and loads of audience interactions. Anyone that has been longing for the peak early 2000’s clubbing days was given their fill with Ne-Yo and Akon at the “Nights Like This” tour.

Ne-Yo hit the stage first with crisp dancing and a vibrant Vegas themed backdrop. There were skilled background dancers, a music conductor, stringed instruments on a high-rise, and brass instruments down below on the stage. The elaborate scene set the tone early for how the extravagantly wonderful night would go.

When it was Akon’s turn to hit the stage, it appeared as though he was floating on a bed of dreamy clouds. Akon absolutely knows how to make a memorable entrance. Shortly after his majestic opening, he busted right into some club classics that got the crowd dancing instantly.

Instead of a typical concert where one artist will perform all their songs and then the next artist will start their set, during the “Nights Like This” show it was a true co-headlining event. After Ne-Yo performed 5-6 songs then Akon took the stage to perform 5-6 songs. They continued to switch off and on during the show and even appeared on stage together for part of the night as well.

Ne-Yo and Akon both respectively have an incredible number of hit songs to choose from in their catalog, but the two of them have an even longer list of songs they have written, co-written or collaborated with other famous artists. They graced the audience with singing clips of those songs. Artists they have written for include David Guetta, Rihanna, Mario, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and the star-studded list continues on.

The fun banter Ne-Yo and Akon had on stage together was one of the top highlights. It drew the crowd in to make them feel like they were part of some backstage chatter between the two artists. The other top highlight was how accessible these two made themselves to the fans. During their performance each of them took the time to slowly go through the crowd during an entire song. Ne-Yo sported some sparkly jeans and danced his way through the aisles. Women and men alike took their opportunity to get in a quick dance and selfie. Akon was carried by his dancers on a bench through the aisles while he continued to sing and interact with as many fans as possible. It was a unique experience and the fans could be heard gushing about how amazing it was to be part of this interactive experience.
