5 Seconds of Summer in Boston – June 5, 2026

The other night at TD Garden, 5 Seconds of Summer proved exactly why they deserve to win Boyband of the Year every night of tour. Bringing their “Everyone’s A Star” tour to Boston, the band delivered a live performance perfectly balancing their anthems with the chaotic, lovable energy fans have come to expect. What sets 5SOS apart isn’t just their longevity in the music industry, but their unmistakable bond and relentless drive for success. They have a running joke at each show where they claim it is their last time performing, but the sheer amount of passion and effort they pour into every single song proves otherwise. They play like it really is their last show, leaving everyone wanting more.

That undeniable effort is matched only by their crowd work and hilarious on stage antics. The band leaned into local humor with a massive “5SOS BOSTON TAKEOVER” presentation displayed on the stage screens. The bit had the crowd roaring as it highlighted absurd goals like smoking out squirrels in the Boston Public Gardens, revisiting a legendary lobster shack, and stealing Captain America’s shield (with an apology to Chris Evans). This segment reached its peak when they brought out the Boston slang slide, leading to a hilarious moment where Ashton committed to attempting a Boston accent.

The crowd interaction was taken to the next level when the band hosted their own hilarious mid show award ceremony. In a bit that had the whole arena cheering, a lucky fan was selected from the audience to come up and officially present 5SOS with their much deserved “Best Boyband” award. It is this kind of fan inclusion that proves they know exactly how to engage a massive arena while making it feel like an intimate gig.

Beyond the comedy, the night was anchored by incredible musical moments, including a segment where the band took a step back to highlight their individual artistry. Each member took center stage to perform a track from their respective solo projects, serving as a powerful reminder of their individual talents and the magic that happens when their voices come back together.
The crowd interaction transitioned into the music during the fan voted surprise song segment. Given a choice between four tracks, the Boston crowd pulled through and voted for “Red Desert.” which made for an unforgettable, exclusive moment for everyone in the room.

Even with the high energy anthems and hilarious Boston bits, the absolute highlight of my night was “Ghost of You.” The raw emotion in the arena was palpable, but it was the unexpected note change that truly stole the show. The vocals from lead singer Luke Hemmings were breathtaking, leaving people too stunned to sing along, easily making it the favorite of the night.
Instead of winding down after such an emotional peak, the final moments of the night exploded into pure chaos. To close out the show, the band brought the house down with a performance of “EVERYONE’S A STAR,” but they didn’t do it alone. Sending the arena into absolute overdrive, 5SOS welcomed Boston legends to the stage: Lucky the Leprechaun from the Boston Celtics and Blades the Bruin from the Bruins. Watching the band match energy and share the stage with the city’s iconic mascots during the final song was the perfect summary of the night, very entertaining, chaotic, and unforgettable. It was the ultimate parting gift for the TD Garden crowd.
