WLL Boston Guard vs New York Charging – May 16, 2026

The Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL) played their inaugural regular season game at the Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on May 16, 2026. It was a historic night featuring the Boston Guard vs. the New York Charging. The very first goal of the game was from Boston College alum and Boston Guard star, Charlotte North. The Boston Guard started off strong with 3 unanswered goals. Maybe it was the New England crowd in attendance that was showing their support to this Boston team. Not long into the first quarter though, the New York Charging started to find their rhythm.  Attackers Erin Coykendall & Izzy Scane played fantastically and led the New York scoring fury. The game was exciting and fast-paced, but in the end the Boston Guard could not catch up. They ended up falling to the New York Charging 17-12.

For this WLL 2026 inaugural regular season there will be four teams competing. Along with the Boston Guard and New York Charging will also be the Maryland Charm and the California Palms. These teams will have games in cities all over the US, but New England fans will be happy to know the WLL plays in Fairfield, CT July 17-19 and returns to Boston August 7+8. If you cannot be in person for the games they will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and Disney+, part of the WLL and PLL’s full ESPN broadcast deal that covers every game of the 2026 season. It is a very exciting time for women’s sports, especially women’s lacrosse, which will make its Olympic debut in the 2028 LA Olympic Games.
