Sully Erna
Wilbur Theater
Boston, MA
November 23, 2016
Less than two weeks ago, we saw Sully Erna’s well-known heavy side, as Godsmack performed at the Vet’s Rock Concert. Now, we see his solo project, with an acoustic show on his “Hometown Life” tour, fittingly, in his hometown of Boston.
The set was mostly filled of material off his two solo albums, 2010’s Avalon, and the recently released Hometown Life. Mixed in were, of course, a couple of Godsmack songs, as well as covers of Metallica, Pink Floyd, and a medley of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” mixed with The Beatles’ “Hey Jude.”In between songs, Sully would often speak to the crowd, about a very, VERY, wide range of things. He is out there, that’s for sure, but he had some entertaining stories of life on the road, and entertaining theories about us being placed on Earth by aliens.
All around, it was a very entertaining show. It was great to have a chance to see this side of Sully’s creativity, seeing him not only play acoustic guitars, but piano as well.
