Big Time Rush in Pittsburgh, PA – July 9, 2022

Many people – myself included – thought that we had seen the last of Big Time Rush after the group finished their 2014 tour, following the conclusion of the Nickelodeon show. To the delight of their fans, they reunited virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic, and announced a tour in 2022 that came through Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center.

Dixie D’Amelio

Big Time Rush was joined by social media personality and singer Dixie D’Amelio for the duration of the tour. Her set was short but nonetheless well received by the crowd who had already filled up the arena. A cover of “Before He Cheats,” by Carrie Underwood got the crowd engaged, and she followed it up with her most popular song, “Be Happy.” Dixie showed that she is much more than just a social media influencer with her heartfelt lyrics and stage presence throughout the show.

Big Time Rush

If someone told you that Big Time Rush took nearly 8 years off between tours, you’d have no idea by watching their show. They took to the stage to thunderous applause during the opening notes of “Windows Down,” a catchy song with a stadium rock-esque guitar and riff. From there it was a whirlwind of music and dancing, as they played their newest singles, “Honey,” and “Call It Like I See It,” early into their set.

Midway through the show they performed a medley of acoustic Justin Timberlake songs that featured Carlos playing the ukulele, which the crowd certainly enjoyed. They also played “Worldwide,” acoustically and were joined by some fans on the stage, including one happy couple that got engaged at the end of the song. The final stretch of the show included many crowd favorites, such as a medley of “City Is Ours,” “Big Night,” and “Til’ I Forget About You.” Their encore consisted of the theme song from the hit TV show, “Big Time Rush,” and “Boyfriend.”

Their tour continues to the west coast for the rest of the month and into August. Be sure to check them out if they are coming by your city!
