Draw the Line
Simple Man Saloon

In a blind sound test, if you put Aerosmith behind one door, and Draw The Line behind another, I would have a hard time choosing who was who.
I was really impressed with what I saw at the Simple Man Saloon last Saturday. Neill Byrnes, the lead singer of this amazing tribute band, embodies Steven Tyler. He talks the talk, he walks the walk. The microphone stand is covered in scarves, his hair is long, his pants are tight. His voice is eerily the same as Stevens. He hits all the right notes, makes all the right sounds, and keeps all the right company.
The band itself is made up of great musicians, with a likeness to their counterpart in the band. The guitar players are Jim Dennis and Gino Caira, drummer is Phil Cefalo, and the bass player is Justin Hunt. They recently added Kyle Champeon, who plays acoustic guitar and saxophone.
The whole show was great. The place had been sold out for weeks, and everyone was on the dance floor before they even started. They had two 1-hour sets, with a small break in the middle. The stage was small, but they made it work. Kyle got off the stage in-between the songs he was needed on. Gino had just enough room for the 5 or 6 guitars he brought with him.
I will admit that I didn’t know a lot of the older tracks they played that well. The line up included songs like “Make It,” “Chiquita,” “Rats in the Cellar” and “Mother Popcorn.” They did play some of my favorites, including “Cryin'”, “Walk This Way” and “Ragdoll.” My favorite part of the performance was the end of “Love in an Elevator.” Jim, Justin, Neil and Gino get together and sing “Love in an elevator, Livin’ it up while I’m going down”, with the extra emphasis on down. It was great to hear them all sing together. They sounded amazing!
They may not be Aerosmith, but they are the real thing. They are a group of talented musicians, with a love of rock n’ roll. They travel all over for shows, from private parties, to festivals, and even cruise ships! If you see them coming to your area, walk their way!
