DevilDriver

DevilDriver just released their seventh studio album, Trust No One, last month. The band has almost an entirely new lineup from the last time they were out on the road. In addition to Dez Fafara and Mike Spreitzer, the band now features Austin D’Amond, formerly of Chimaira, on drums, David Cook’s guitarist Neal Tiemann on guitar, and Static-X bassist Diego Ibarra. Lineup changes often mean a heavy focus on new material in the set, but long time fans need not worry, as only one or two songs were off the most recent album.

Act of Defiance

Thrash metal band Act of Defiance was formed in 2014 by former Megadeth members Chris Broderick on guitar and Shawn Drover on drums. They quickly added former Scar the Martyr singer Henry Derek and Shadows Fall guitarist Matt Bachand on bass, and last year released their first album, Birth and the Burial. At the show, I had a chance to talk with drummer Shawn Drover about the formation of the band, and where they see the band going. You can watch that interview here.

In addition to several tracks off the album, including the lead single, “Throwback,” they played a cover of Pantera’s “I’m Broken.” Their set kicked ass, and if you haven’t checked them out, I definitely recommend them.

Metalcore pioneers Hatebreed just released their seventh studio album, The Concrete Confessional, last month, which we reviewed here. Tonight was the night before the last night of a month with only one or two nights off from shows, so the band was in top form. Kicking off with “Destroy Everything,” they hammered through over 20 songs, with only a few of the best tracks off the new album mixed in.

I also had a chance to talk with founding guitar player Wayne Lozinak, and you can check out that interview here.
