Mother Feather
Vans Warped Tour
Mansfield, MA
July 13, 2016

With all the work I did getting to know new bands before the Vans Warped Show tour, I forgot about the bands I did know! When the line up came out I was really excited to see Mother Feather. They had a album come out on May 13, 2016 that I loved and had given a favorable review. When I got to the show and saw them on the schedule, I got excited all over again!

Mother Feather is an American rock group from New York City. They combine great guitars riffs, banging drums and amazing 80’s throwback costumes. The lyrics are catchy, and a little bit dirty, but in a fun way.

The crowd started out small, but a few calls out on the loud speaker and starting the loud rock n’ roll music, changed everything. Looking around at the crowd gathering, I saw faces of “Mother Feathers” in the making.

Ann Courtney and Elizabeth Carena were definitely the stars of their show.  They had on complementary pink outfits and had some choreographed dance routines.   The other members of the band wore more “normal” outfits, but stood out with white streaks painted on their faces.

They sang all my favorite songs from their self titled album, Mother Feather. Including “Living, Breathing”, “Mirror”, and “Trampoline”. They sounded just like the album. Everything was on key, no words were fumbled. Considering the amount of movement required, I was impressed!

The set was about a half hour long, which is about the normal time for a Warped Tour band. Just not long enough for my liking. At the end of the set Ann called for her fans to follow her as she jumped over the barricade and ran to her merchandise booth. The crowd followed, eager to meet her. I too ran over to congratulate them on a job well done.

I may have forgot they were coming, but I’ll never forget they were there!
