Five Finger Death Punch in Mansfield, MA – August 18, 2018

Five Finger Death Punch and Breaking Benjamin are just wrapping up a co-headlining tour that was one of the biggest rock shows in the country this summer. So big, in fact, that they’ve now added a leg of arena dates to the tour this fall. Five Finger released their latest album, “And Justice For None,” in May, and it debuted at #4 on the charts.

This was their first show in New England since 2016’s show in Worcester, which made headlines when singer Ivan Moody had a breakdown and left the stage after only a few songs. As he said to the crowd tonight, “We have some unfinished business.” He said he didn’t really remember much of that, but Moody has since sobered up, and was firing on all cylinders tonight!

The band exploded out of the gates with “Lift Me Up” before tearing through newer tracks like “Trouble” and “Wash It All Away.” Guitarists Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook delivered razor-sharp riffs throughout the night, while Chris Kael and Jeremy Spencer kept the rhythm section locked in with relentless precision. The set took a more emotional turn midway through with acoustic renditions of “Wrong Side of Heaven” and “Remember Everything,” giving Moody the opportunity to connect directly with the audience before launching back into the heavier material. The Offspring cover “Gone Away” added another poignant moment, proving that Five Finger Death Punch can be just as effective when dialing back the aggression as when unleashing it full force.

The final stretch of the show showcased why Five Finger Death Punch had become one of the premier headlining acts in modern metal. “Burn MF” transformed the amphitheater into a sea of raised fists, while “Under and Over It” and the closing performance of “The Bleeding” provided a thunderous finale that left the crowd wanting more. Moody’s charisma, the band’s airtight musicianship, and a setlist that touched nearly every era of their career combined to create a memorable night of hard rock. More than a decade into their rise, Five Finger Death Punch proved they weren’t simply riding the wave of popularity, they had earned their place among the genre’s elite live performers.
