Pitbull and Iggy Azalea at the Xfinity Center, August 9, 2022
For the second year in a row, Pitbull’s Can’t Stop us Now Tour, with special guest Iggy Azalea, sold out the Xfinity Center. It was a hot and humid night, and the packed house was here to have a good time. Pitbull and Iggy would not disappoint.
Iggy Azalea
Iggy took the stage with her hit, “Work,” and instantly the building was jumping. As she rapped over powerful hooks, a squad of dancers filled the stage with her. They worked their moves while various videos played on the screen behind them. It was a fairly bare-boned stage setup, but it was all they needed to put on a good show.
I’ve been to nearly 60 shows at Xfinity Center over the last 20 years, and I’ve never heard a crowd as loud as I did tonight, as they were singing along to the choruses of Iggy’s mega hits like “Black Widow” and “Fancy.”
Pitbull
Once Iggy got the party going, Pitbull came out, appropriately, with “Don’t Stop the Party.” There’s no slow songs during his set, he really is just keeping the party going all night. With six incredible dancers surrounding him, Pitbull could easily perform to backing tracks, but he doesn’t. Instead he’s got an amazing live band.
Pitbull knows how to work a crowd, and fills his show with hit after hit. Tracks like “Hotel Room Service,” “Gasoline,” and “Timber” kept the crowd moving, but “Fireball” and the show closer, “Give me Everything,” were real show stoppers.
It remains to be seen if Pitbull and Iggy will go for a third year, but they definitely have a formula for a great night of music, that audiences seem ready to keep enjoying!
