Shania Twain in Massachusetts – July 9, 2023

Pop-country Diva Shania Twain is on the Queen of Me tour, her first full-fledged US tour in five years! On a toasty July Sunday night, she literally rolled into Xfinity Center. As the venue went dark, large cases were rolled across the center concourse between sections. All of a sudden, Shania appeared in one of them, and performed “Wake Up Dreaming,” as she was rolled across the venue.

As the band started “Up!,” Shania arose center stage through columns of smoke. Backed up by a powerful band and two male dancers, Twain brought the audience through an 18-song set that featured all of her big hits. Pop hits like “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!” and ballads like “From This Moment On” were well received by the sold-out crowd. Opening act BRELAND joined Shania on stage for her new song, “Inhale/Exhale Air,” as well as her classic duet, “Party for Two.”

A lot has been said about this tour online, and not a lot of it has been great. Honestly, I went in with very low expectations, but the performances was a lot better than I expected. While Shania may not have a voice as smooth as she did thirty years, which was apparent on “You’re Still the One,” she put on a great show, and the audience loved it. She’s had some criticism over the wigs she’s worn on stage, and I’ll admit, I’ve seen pictures of some bad ones, her look today

When Shania returned to the stage for her encore of “That Don’t Impress me Much” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” she wore her iconic leopard print outfit that she wore in the music video of the former song. Audiences went wild as she appeared, and finished off a fun night of music with these two mega-hits.
