Stone Temple Pilots and LIVE in Mansfield, MA – September 5, 2024
Stone Temple Pilots and +LIVE+, two of the most legendary bands in rock, teamed up this summer for the co-headlining Jubilee Tour. The multi-platinum selling bands join forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of two of the most beloved albums of the 90s, +LIVE+’s Throwing Copper and Stone Temple Pilots Purple.

The DeLeo brothers, Robert and Dean, along with drummer Eric Kretz and vocalist Jeff Gutt, performed their album Purple in its entirety. Featuring hits like “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song,” they showed why the album is still just as popular after 30 years. After they finished the album, they had a special surprise as Filter singer Richard Patrick joined them for a performance of Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot.” Filter will be performing on the same stage less than 24 hours later, and clearly the band is already in town. As if that wasn’t enough, Alice Cooper guitarist Tommy Hendriksen joined them for their finale song, “Sex Type Thing.”

With +LIVE+ also celebrating an album anniversary, while they didn’t play Throwing Copper in it’s entirety, the album had a strong presence in the set. With hits like “I Alone” and “Lightning Crashes” being saved for the encore, tracks like “All Over You” and “White, Discussion” got played a little earlier in the set. These days, the only original member in +LIVE+ is vocalist/guitarist Ed Kowalczyk, but he’s backed up by a solid formation of touring musicians.
