Last year, Metallica released their tenth studio album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. Now they’re out on their first US tour since 2009. With them in Foxboro are Volbeat and Local H.

Local H

Local H is best known for their hit song in the 90’s, “Bound for the Floor.” They won a spot on a five-date mini-tour opening for Metallica, given them a chance to play in front of huge crowds.

John the Baptist Blues
The Misanthrope
Bound for the Floor
Hands on the Bible
That’s What They All Say
Back in the Day
Fritz’s Corner
High-Fiving MF
City of Knives

We’ve never been shy of saying Danish rockers Volbeat are of our favorites. They put on a great show, and got the crowd fired up and ready for Metallica.

The Devil’s Bleeding Crown
Seal the Deal
Heaven nor Hell / A Warrior’s Call
Sad Man’s Tongue
Black Rose
Goodbye Forever
16 Dollars
The Hangman’s Body Count
Hallelujah Goat
Lola Montez
Dead but Rising
Still Counting

From the opening notes of “Hardwired”, to their tease of “Frayed Ends of Sanity” at the end of “Enter Sandman,” Metallica put on a great show. They played a great mix of songs off the new album, the Black Album hits people came to see, and dug deep with the Kill ’em All classic, “Motorbreath.”

Their new stage show is made to engage people no matter where your seats in the stadium are. Bookending the stage are giant versions of the letters M and A, from the Metallica logo, with huge screens in between. Besides occasionally completing the word Metallica, the screens had animations and videos to go with some of the songs, or just showed larger-than-life footage of the band. There were explosions and fireworks running across the stage and reaching into the sky. This tour again sees the return of the “Snake Pit,” where the band walks on ramps out into the crowd, which closes off, creating a smaller section of fans inside of them. Wherever you were, you enjoyed this show!

Atlas, Rise!
For Whom the Bell Tolls
The Unforgiven
Now That We’re Dead
Moth Into Flame
Wherever I May Roam
Halo on Fire

Master of Puppets
