Sammy Hagar in Mansfield, MA – June 13, 2022
There’s only one way to rock, and that’s with Sammy Hagar and the Circle. This rock and roll supergroup came through New England, with a show at Xfinity Center. Joining them is heavy blues guitarist George Thorogood and the Destroyers.
George Thorogood & the Destroyers
There’s no denying George Thorogood has a signature sound, that’s recognizable by nearly anybody. From the covers he’s made huge, like “Who do you Love?,” “Move it on Over,” and “One Burbon One Scotch One Beer,” to his originals like “I Drink Alone,” and the iconic “Bad to the Bone,” the hour-long set was full of hits that kept people on their feet.
Sammy Hagar and The Circle
It’s amazing to realize that Sammy’s been playing with The Circle for nearly a decade now! The chemistry is undeniable that he has with his friends Michael Anthony (of Van Halen), Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer, John Bonham) and guitarist Vic Johnson. The Red Rocker – though maybe not as red as he used to be – played a night full of his huge hits. Van Halen songs like “Why Can’t This Be Love” and “Right Now” went over huge with the crowd. Sammy’s solo songs, like “There’s Only One way to Rock” and “I Can’t Drive 55” were equally as well received.
There were a couple of fun treats throughout the night. One was when they played tribute to Bonham’s father with a performance of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll.” Also very cool was when Michael Anthony took over on lead vocals to play some David Lee Roth-era Van Halen, with “Unchained.”
If you want catchy rock and roll songs, with huge hooks to sing along to, you’re not going to have more fun than you will at a night with Sammy Hagar and the Circle!
