Fozzy & Theory of a Deadman at House of Blues Boston – October 7, 2014

Theory of a Deadman is on tour in support of their fifth album, Savages. Main support on the tour comes from WWE wrestler Chris Jericho’s band, Fozzy, as well as 3 Pill Morning.

Minneapolis based rock band 3 Pill Morning opened the show, dressed in suits, and ready to party.

Fozzy

I’ve been a fan of Fozzy since 2002’s Happenstance album, but I’ve never had the opportunity to see them live. As lead singer (and WWE wrestler) Chris Jericho mentioned during the set, this was the first time Fozzy EVER played in Boston!

The set is heavy on the newer material, with five songs played off their new album, Do You Wanna Star a War. The crowd seemed to really enjoy the set, especially with the lead single off of War, “Lights Go Out.” Another track off the album they played is their great cover of “SOS” by ABBA.

Jericho is a natural frontman, and after years as a professional wrestler, obviously knows how to work a crowd. The rest of the band was extremely solid. At times, the vocals were hard to hear in the mix, but overall the band sounded really good.

Before the show, I had a chance to sit down with guitar player Rich Ward, and we had a great conversation. Check that out here!

Theory of a Deadman

I was first introduced to Theory of a Deadman back in 2005, after the release of their second album, Gasoline. I caught their performance of “No Surprise” on The Tonight Show, and was intrigued by the band. I’ve seen them a few times over the years, but always in a supporting position on a festival. It was great to see a full headlining set by the band. After all these years, I finally got to hear them play “No Surprise,” which they included as part of a three-song acoustic segment in the middle of the show. The acoustic portion also included a cover of Stone Temple Pilot’s “Interstate Love Song.”

The set was full of their hits, and a couple of songs off their new album, Savages.
