Steel Panther in Portland, OR – April 4, 2023

Heavy metal band Steel Panther currently on their “On the Prowl” tour brought their show to McMenamins Crystal Ballroom. Metal cover band Tragedy and Crobot provided support.

Tragedy

Tragedy brought 1970’s disco classics to the stage with a heavy metal twist to kick off a night of head bangin metal. Covers included Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”, Grease soundtrack “You’re the One That I Want” and BeeGees “How Deep is Your Love”.

Crobot

Dirty hard rock and roll Crobot brought high their energy to the stage next with their dynamic lead singer Brandon Yeagley. Throwing down original songs, with powerful vocals and a stage presence that keeps you on your toes, Crobot hyped the crowd for Steel Panther.

Steel Panther

Steel Panther has their dedicated fan base, and they came dressed to impress and ready to rock; and those who’s first time at the show looked around, part nervous, part giddy and also ready to rock! Steel Panther has the most amazing stage presence, with comedic banter between them and including the crowd, along with guitar riffs and high kicks that are impressive in every sense.

The best way to describe what happens on stage at a Steel Panther show, is to reminisce of the hair metal days of L.A. rock scene, filled with skin tight pants, beautiful woman and vices in excess…and utter chaos. Organized and orchestrated chaos on stage was at its most theatrical best with songs like “Asian Hooker” as they brought up a beautiful woman who danced on stage; to “All I Want To Do is F**K” shouted as an anthem. In true heavy metal hair rock n roll, a show is not complete without syrupy love ballads, and Steel Panther does not disappoint with the beauty “1987”, with lead guitarist Satchel playing both a 12 sting acoustic along side his electric guitar, with the crowd lighting actual lighters in solidarity.

The 80’s heavy metal scene is alive and well, and it’s name is Steel Panther.
