Shinedown in Bridgeport, CT – April 7, 2023 – PLUS New Tour Dates Announced!

Shinedown today announced the next set of dates on The Revolutions Live tour, touring the nation this Summer and Fall… We’ll have those details later, but first, on a Friday night at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Shinedown started off with a dramatic strut down the dim and lengthy stage. Although the band has been no stranger to New England during their illustrious career, this show happened to be the first time they have ever performed in Bridgeport, Connecticut. As Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch emerged from the darkness and smoke, the crowd could start to see their faces lit up by a massive and luminous Planet Zero logo.

The band’s set commenced with a literal bang. The band’s pyrotechnics show began with flames bursting up each corner of the stage. The first song of their set was “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)”. This track is dynamic and the perfect one to kick things off and to be coupled with explosives.

For this show, Eric Bass put down his bass and played the piano on the ballet, “I’ll Follow You”. Fans have seen his diverse musical talents before, but on this night the piano descended from the ceiling of the Total Mortgage Arena. It’s amazing after all these years how Shinedown continues to evolve and surprise their fans not only with their sound, but also with their set design.

Brent Smith took some time before the band played their smash hit, “If You Only Knew”, to connect with the crowd. He spoke about how sometimes we wake up and don’t know how we are going to get through another day. He encouraged everyone to reach out to people that are suffering. This went over tremendously well with the audience as they cheered in agreement then jumped into enthusiastically singing the track.

Shinedown turned up the energy level and ramped up the pyrotechnics with the next songs on their setlist including the fast-paced hard rock tracks, “Enemies”, “Sound of Madness”, and “Planet Zero”. Each of those songs come from different albums, ranging from 2008’s The Sound of Madness, 2012’s Amaryllis, to 2022’s Planet Zero album. It is wonderful to see fans singing every word and genuinely excited about the songs, regardless if it is an older or newer track. Shinedown even played songs from their first 2003 album, Leave a Whisper. “45” and their version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” are some of the oldest music in the band’s extensive catalog and they are still met with so much enthusiasm by the fans. When looking around the arena it looked as though every member of the crowd was singing passionately in unison.

The band made sure to finish off the night with the energy level at the highest possible level with “Monsters” and “Cut the Cord”. While the Revolutions Live tour was only three nights in, Shinedown indicated this was the loudest so far, and could possibly be the loudest on their entire tour that spans over the next few months.
