Bush at Mohegan Sun – December 14, 2025
Concerts in December hit differently. The relentless cold weather, combined with all the chaos of the holidays can be draining… a rocking night out can be just what one needs. On this snow-covered Sunday night, crowds poured into Mohegan Sun Arena to see Bush.
Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum started things off, with frontman Dave Pirner and the rest of the Minneapolis-based band bringing a healthy dose of 90’s nostalgia. While they played a few songs off their 13th album, Slowly but Shirley, released last year, the majority of their set came from their pair of mid-90’s platinum albums, Grave Dancers Union and Let Your Dim Light Shine. The notable highlight for the crowd tonight was their smash hit “Runaway Train.”

Bush
Before Bush took the stage, a soul cover of “Glycerine” played over the PA, which was a great way to get the crowd excited for their appearance. The stage went black, and drummer Nik Hughes would hit some large accents as bright white lights flashed. Eventually the rest of the band came to the stage, and they kicked into “Everything Zen.” Gavin Rossdale literally jumped around the stage, full of energy, as they played through sixteen rocking songs. Songs like “Machine Head” and “Glycerine” showed the strength of Bush’s catalog, while they peppered in new songs from I Beat Loneliness, released this summer. About half of their set, in fact, was material less than ten years old. The crowd certainly seemed to enjoy the newer songs just as much as their classic hits.
Midway through the set they played a cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together,” which they put their own spin on, the crowd singing along to the classic. After the band left the stage for an encore, Rossdale returned solo to perform “Swallowed,” which really showcased the power of his voice. By this point the audience had all but forgotten about the cold air outside, as the arena heated up to it’s grand finale with their hit “Comedown.” It had been over a decade since Bush had played Mohegan Sun, and hopefully the sold out crowd tonight will encourage them to return much sooner.
