Hollywood Undead
Crown the Empire
I Prevail

October 13, 2015

Rap rock band Hollywood Undead released their fourth album, Day of the Dead, earlier this year. While touring in support of this album, they’re bringing along Texas metalcore band Crown the Empire, and Michigan based post-hardcore band I Prevail.

We’ve covered I Prevail before, and you can see as this young band is making the rounds, you can see the improvement in their shows. They are getting tighter, learning to work a crowd and how to put on a great show. As they still only have a seven-song EP to their name, as well as their hit pop-goes-punk cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” their setlist was relatively similar to when they came around in May. Any Taylor Swift fans who came to see them I’m sure didn’t know what to think of the snippet of Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff” they played before going into “Blank Space.”

Sara had a chance to talk with screamer Erik Vanlerberghe before the show, and he let us know about the new material they’re working on. Check that out here.

Crown the Empire is due to release a reissued version of 2014’s The Resistance: Rise of The Runaways at the end of this month, featuring two new tracks as well as some alternate versions of previously released songs.

The band was playing without guitarist Benn Suede, and so some guitar parts were played on a backing track. It has been rumored that he is no longer in the band.

While both bands so far had their fans, and got great reactions, it was clear that the crowd was here to see Hollywood Undead.

Throughout the first song, they suffered from issues with J-Dog’s guitar, but by the time they kicked into “Undead,” they had been resolved.

Everybody in the band seems to rap or sing at one point or another. Occasionally in the middle of a song we would even see a switch between whether Charlie Scene or J-Dog was playing guitar, without a note being missed.

The crowd was full of dedicated fans who knew every word to every song, something Johnny 3 Tears mentioned in an interview before the show as being one of the great things about playing headlining shows. Check the interview out here!
