Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Nothing More is providing support on the Five Finger Death Punch/Breaking Benjamin co-headlining tour. The last time we caught them, coincidentally was also a Five Finger Death Punch co-headlining tour, albeit with Volbeat. At the time, they were a small band, unknown to me, for which I had no expectations of, and they proceeded to impress me with their live show.

In the years since then, they’ve released a top 20 album, had a number 1 single, and have been nominated for 3 Grammy Awards.

As their popularity has grown, so too has their stage presence. One of the highlights of their set last time was a combination bass/drum solo, in which they mounted the bass on a large stand that swung around as multiple band members played it. They’ve replaced that show piece with what they call the “Scorpion Tail.” Later in the set, singer Jonny Hawkins brings the scorpion tail to life. As it towers over the stage, he controls the sound of the band, singing through microphones with heavy effects, playing samples, and moving levers that affect the pitch of the rest of the music on stage. It’s quite the site to see!

Of course there’s more to a good show than just a good show, and Nothing More’s music is just a strong. From the moment they hit the stage with their #1 song “Go to War,” to ending the stage with a powerful performance of “Salem (Burn the Witch)”, they had the crowd mesmerized.
